Ingredients
- peanut butter or almond butter
- date paste or sweetener of choice
- tamari or soy sauce
- coconut oil or olive oil
- sesame oil
- water
- garlic powder or fresh garlic
- ginger powder or fresh ginger
- crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
Prepare all the ingredients and combine them in a mixing bowl or small pot.
If using thicker ingredients as suggested, like date paste, and coconut oil, I like to place all the ingredients in a small pot on low to medium heat. This allows the date paste, peanut butter, and coconut oil to soften making it easier to combine.
Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more sweetener for a sweeter sauce, red pepper flakes for heat, and tamari for saltiness. For a thicker sauce add less water and for a thinner sauce add more water.
Use as a dipping sauce, salads, noodles, spring rolls, and grain bowls.

Notes
- Use unsweetened peanut butter (or nut butter of your choice). You can use smooth or crunchy peanut butter it really just depends on your preference.
- If using a substitute sweetener, add half the amount of sugar and add the substitute sweetener to taste. Most sweeteners are much sweeter than date paste because date paste is minimally processed and still contains all the fiber.
- Store leftovers in a container with lid in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
